First Lady Charlene A. DeJournett

First Lady Charlene A. DeJournett was born and raised in Akron, OH. She attended Akron Public Schools and graduated from Akron South High School in 1975.

Charlene was saved at the age 24 and has been a member of St. Ashworth Temple COGIC since 1981. She has served in various roles during her tenure which included President of the Choir, member of the Praise & Worship team, YWCC member, just to name a few. She currently serves as the the First Lady, Instructor of Sunday School and Prayer & Bible Band, and on the Praise Team.

Singing is not only a passion for Charlene, but a calling from God which she whole heartedly accepts. Charlene has sung the National Anthem at various community events over the years (i.e., American Heart Walk, Akron Areos game, Lebron James Bike-a-thon, etc.). Charlene was the winner of the 2008 Akron Canton Foodbank’s “Corporate Idol” contest where she sung gospel artist Donnie McClurkin’s hit song “Stand.”

Charlene was blessed with the opportunity to live out one of her lifelong dreams of performing on the big stage. She represented Pro-Model & Talent Management at the 2015 International Model & Talent (IMTA) Conference Competition in Hollywood, CA!  She earned 1st Place recognitions in five competitions and was the Runner Up for the Female Actress of the Year. She has since appeared in two commercials; one in which she was a stand-in for Aretha Franklin. She also performed at the Actor’s Summit, Akron’s professional theater, having the lead role in the musical Quilters by Molly Newman and Barbara Damashak.

First Lady Charlene A. DeJournett’s family consist of of 4 daughters, 1 son and 5 grandchildren.
